Hi, my name is Loek van Kooten. I'm a Japanese/Chinese/English-Dutch translator specializing in games, with more than 26 years' of full-time experience under my belt. I've been using CAT tools during my entire career, always believing in synergy between man and machine and constantly looking for solutions that help translators speed up their work and make more money in less time.

I started as a Community Manager of DéjàVuX, because I believed in that tool and had very good connections with Emilio, the programmer. Unfortunately Emilio passed away and development slowed down. I then switched to memoQ and even had a personal meeting with the makers of this tool in Hungary. However, memoQ became too big, the tool became too sluggish for me and I found it harder and harder to get my personal wishes implemented.

I also found that most tools were designed from the perspective of project managers and often even wondered whether CAT programmers had ever used their own tools: that's how inefficient they had become.

Enter Cattitude, a tool I started developing three years ago and which is completely dogfed, meaning it is constantly being used in a full-time production environment.

One of my worst characteristics is that I'm very impatient. For you this is a blessing in disguise though, as you can bet that anything that takes more than one millisecond starts to annoy me really quickly, forcing me to improve this tool constantly.

However, I'm also very precise. I demand constant quality assurance from my tool, with as few false positives as possible. But if there's a problem, I want to be made aware immediately, and not after the damage has been done already. Nobody likes revisiting hundreds of strings to solve recurring errors.

Currently I translate 4000-8000 words per day for triple A game companies, every single day, making an equivalent amount of money, thanks to the enormous speed boost being offered by one of the very few CAT tools that was made by translators for translators.

That doesn't mean project managers can't use it: I'm a project manager myself and this tool has many nifty features that make the lives of project managers easier than any other tool.
